Nike Air Max "Camo" Spring/Summer 2013

Thanks for visiting! Use the RSS feed or e-mail subscription to keep up to date on what's happening on this site.
Nike pays tribute to the countries and cultures that have made the Nike Air Max an international icon by updating the classic sneaker with a series of country-specific camouflage patterns that, despite being designed to conceal, stand out on the streets.
Initially released in 1987, the Nike Air Max running shoe was crafted for sport but was quickly adopted on Europe’s streets as a badge of self-expression. The Camo Collection honors and evolves this heritage by updating the shoe with vintage camo prints from France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom – and with Nike Hyperfuse technology.
Using heat and pressure, Nike Hyperfuse forms a single, durable composite material from three layers: one for stability, one for breathability and one for durability. The resulting unibody design boasts a level of precision unattainable via traditional cut-and-sew methods. It is also lightweight, without abrasive seams.
The collection’s central style impact, meanwhile, come from its prints, which are found on both the shoes and their boxes. France leads off, transforming the Air Max 1 and Air Max BW with a fusion U.S./French camo stamp, while Italy wraps the Air Max 90 and Air Max 97 in a motif from the early ‘90s. Germany’s print was first issued in 1999, and now adorns the Air Max 1 and Air Max 180. And both the Japanese and British textiles — each from around 1991 — modify the Air Max 90 and Air Max 95.

Silhouettes and Shadows by Kalevi Tamm

Thanks for visiting! Use the RSS feed or e-mail subscription to keep up to date on what's happening on this site.
Kalevi Tamm is a photographer from Estonia. He took many types of photographs but here we focus on his Silhouettes and Shadow work. Lets have a look on these astonishing photographs.
Words from Photographer:

my name is Kalevi Tamm, and I started my Soviet childhood in 1965, in occupied Estonia. My life has been full of various uniquely exciting challenges and experiences that have immensely enriched me – like contraband trading, the smuggling of Soviet Army property while still being in the service, and other such goings-on. But after the collapse of the USSR, it became possible to deal with quite legal entrepreneurship. Thus, I’ve been involved in the launching of various firms, some of which, under new proprietors, function as successful international operations to this day. All this has helped to train me to observe the details of life by means of unusual viewpoints.
In my earlier days, I hadn’t had much to do with photography. I didn’t even obtain my first photo camera until the year 2008. And even that one I stumbled upon since it was part of a barter deal. But the camera encouraged me to start delving into the fascinating world of photography.
Just as I love black coffee, I soon realized that I truly savour black and white photography. I almost never drink coloured teas, and rarely indulge in taking colour photographs.
I haven’t devoted myself to any specific subject matter. I photograph whatever grabs my fancy. But, I do prefer architecture, architectural details, urban scenes, as well as the fascinating play involved in the intermingling of silhouettes and shadows.
Since I lack a formal vocational education in this field, I often run into difficulties, which, for a properly trained photographer, would pose no major problems. At the same time though, I’m not hobbled by any restricting preconceptions, and am, therefore, open to discovering new approaches.
Recently, in 2013, I acquired a particular photo camera with which it’s not even possible to take colour photographs. So, only time will indicate how I’ll be able to deal with this new development in my photographic quests. At any rate, it’ll be exciting…

Dancers Everywhere

Thanks for visiting! Use the RSS feed or e-mail subscription to keep up to date on what's happening on this site.
'Dancers among us' is a project by Jordan Matter Photography. All shots taken by him are fantabulous and amazing.  Feel the dance in every moment & make it joyful. You can also buy the book here.

"Dance, when you're broken open. Dance, if you've torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you're perfectly free." ~ Rumi

Photographer's Statement:

"The inspiration for this book came to me one afternoon as I watched my son, Hudson, playing with his toy bus. I was trying to keep pace with his three-year-old mind as he got deeper and deeper into a fantasy involving nothing more than a yellow plastic box and armless figurines. At least that’s what I saw. He saw frantic commuters rushing to catch the 77 local bus to Australia. He jumped in place, mouth open and slapping his knees, joyously reacting to a world I couldn’t see, but one powerfully present for him.
What happens to this enthusiasm, this ability to be wholly present in the moment? Why are these pure moments of passion so often replaced with cynicism, boredom, and indifference? As I played with my son, I thought about creating photographs that would show the world as if through his eyes. The people in the images would be alive and in the moment, celebrating all aspects and emotions of everyday life.
Shortly after playing “bus”, I attended an extraordinary dance performance, and I knew I had found my collaborators. Dancers are storytellers. They’re trained to capture passion with their bodies. The often create a fantasy world or offer us a deeper look into familiar settings. They bring to life what we feel but what most of us, lacking their artistry and athleticism, are unable to express physically. I spent three years shooting dancers around the country, and I was humbled by their enthusiasm for their craft. I would tweet and Facebook when I would arrive in a city, and dancers would volunteer their time to pose for me, often traveling several hours to participate.
I've created these images for Hudson and his little sister, Salish. My children are everything to me; my dreams for them are enormous. I hope they have long and healthy lives, find loving partners and fulfilling careers, and, if it suits them, experience the joys of parenthood. Most important, I want them to be free from self-consciousness, to discover the deep happiness that comes from a life filled with passion, and to find the serenity necessary to be truly present. These photographs communicate my dreams for them more powerfully than words: Relish moments large and small, recognize the beauty around you, and be alive!"
